Jimmy John's Noah's Ark Review
Product Name: Jimmy John's Noah's Ark
Product Description: The interesting thing about Jimmy John’s Noah’s Ark is that it’s a variation of another popular sub, the Gargantuan, that I mentioned before, which is made with salami, capicola, turkey, roast beef, ham, provolone, onion, lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil and vinegar, and oregano-basil. And the Noah’s Ark sub is the same thing, except with double the ingredients. You can customize it by adding more veggies, but I’m not sure you’d be able to close the sandwich, much less take a bite.

Jimmy John’s sandwiches are hard to compete with – especially in quality and speedy delivery. I could never make a big sub sandwich in less than 5 minutes, but this is a skill Jimmy John’s team has definitely mastered. One of the largest subs available is the Gargantuan- it’s as big as you might guess from the name. But imagine a sub even bigger than that- in fact, double the size of that. Jimmy John’s Noah’s Ark is a freakishly large sandwich, but you have to try it at least once. Just like Noah brought two of each animal onto the ark, Jimmy John’s Noah’s Ark Sub brings two of each meat onto its 12-inch French bread loaf, along with provolone cheese and all the fixin’s. Let’s dig in.
History and Inspiration
While the previous title for Largest Sub at Jimmy John’s was the Gargantuan, Jimmy John’s Noah’s Ark is all about pushing the limits. How much meat and veggies can one possibly stuff into a French bread bun? The answer here is two of each kind! Every meat that the chain offers is impressively placed in the bun, and I honestly can’t figure out how the employees do it so well. This sub is featured on Jimmy John’s Secret Menu, but it’s about as “secret” as Noah’s Ark and the flood.

Jimmy John’s Noah’s Ark Review
The Noah’s Ark is the biggest sandwich you can order at Jimmy John’s, and it’s definitely a mouthful. Grab a few napkins and warm up your jaw because this sub will be a messy, crazy experience.
1. Taste and Texture [3/5]
At first, the Noah’s Ark looks a bit intimidating. It’s heavy and huge, and the amount of meat is almost staggering. I laughed at it the first time I saw it – like there was no way I could eat it. Truth be told, I could finish less than half of it, but it was a feast. With such an extreme amount of meat, the sandwich really needed a balance of veggies and dressings. The onions and tomatoes were crisp and fresh, and the dressings added a nice flavor component. Oil and vinegar and the oregano-basil brought out some of the Italian flavors of the meats and helped my mouth from getting dried out. The French bread loaf has to strike the perfect balance between firm and soft- it has to be strong enough to hold everything together but soft enough to press it down and into your mouth. It’s quite a messy experience – I was glad I was eating it by myself so no one could see me struggle through some of those thicker bites. It’s much too heavy on the meat for my taste.
2. Are they healthy? [2/5]
Portion and ingredient control are the keys to choosing a nutritional sandwich option. However, all bets are off with the Noah’s Ark, a giant sandwich stuffed full of every ingredient available. As you might guess, this isn’t the healthiest option on the menu. Many of Jimmy John’s menu items tend to be high in sodium, so choose carefully if you are watching your sodium intake. The whole-grain bread could be substituted for the French bread, adding 5 grams of fiber to your meal. But keep in mind, it also adds 20 grams of carbs, 5 extra grams of fat, and 100 extra calories. Sub sandwiches are generally more nutritious than their club sandwiches. Still, if you’re really looking for a healthy option, I’d recommend one of the Slims or an Unwich – a sandwich wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of bread. You can also visit Jimmy John’s website and use their nutrition calculator that allows you to access accurate nutrition information as you customize your sandwich.
3. Is it Worth it? [3/5]
The freshness and the quality make it worth trying this sandwich, but I prefer less meat and more veggies on my sandwiches. If you’re a huge meat fan, this is an excellent choice for you. The meat is sliced by hand daily, and with so many different types of meat, it’s an interesting mix of flavors. This sub is quite large and could be eaten at two meals or shared with another person. Even though it seems expensive if you compare it to a sandwich like Subways $5 Footlongs, the price for such a large sub is reasonable.
Final Verdict
I tried it once, and I would probably never order it again. It holds an incredible amount of meat that I could never finish in one sitting, but if you love sliced meat – I mean “really” love sliced meat- this is the sub for you.
