How many variations of teriyaki can you eat? Surprisingly, a lot–almost all of the food at Teriyaki Madness revolves around the concept, and they’ve been going strong since 2003. The Asian restaurant chain has expanded to more than 100 branches in the US and Mexico. In fact, you can find Teriyaki Madness all over, from large malls to smaller restaurant strips and food courts.
Despite being a fast food restaurant, Teriyaki Madness sets the bar higher because they’re slightly more health-conscious than popular places like McDo or Burger King. You can get your food in 15 minutes or less, but they grill their teriyaki on-site and they emphasize using fresh ingredients. Most of their teriyaki bowls are around $7 to $8, with a good dose of protein, carbs, and veggies in one go.
Even with the increasing level of competition, Teriyaki Madness has grown over the years. Entrepreneur Magazine declared them a Franchise 500 company, and they also landed on the Inc 5000 list because of consistent growth over three years. 2022 may have been rocky for the restaurant industry as a whole, but Teriyaki Madness pulled off a successful Pay-It-Forward campaign. For $75, customers could order a full teriyaki catering spread for healthcare workers. This turned out to be a hit.
Opening hours vary per location, but Teriyaki Madness is generally open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to dine-in, you can order online from most Teriyaki Madness branches. They also have their own app for delivery. GrubHub and UberEats are always options, but if you’re a regular at Teriyaki Madness, their app allows you to earn points per order–meaning free food eventually!

How It Works
Although their menu really does focus on teriyaki, there are customers who eat at Teriyaki Madness as much as three times a week, and they say that they’ve never gotten tired of the food. This is mainly because Teriyaki Madness gives you plenty of ways to customize your teriyaki bowl.
First off, you select your protein. Chicken is still the specialty, yes, but you can also go for steak, salmon, or tofu. There’s a lot of variety here. Although everything is grilled, they’re marinated and served with different sauces, including classic teriyaki, spicy, stir-fry, gyoza, thick teriyaki, sweet and sour, and katsu.
It’s not a teriyaki bowl with just the protein alone, so next, you select your base. That’s usually white rice, brown rice, fried rice, or noodles. On the other hand, you can cut the carbs and stick with stir-fried veggies only (or have it added on a side).
You can already come up with more than a dozen combinations from this alone. What’s great about this is it caters to all sorts of diets. If you want regular comfort food, their chicken teriyaki bowl might do the job. For pescetarians or vegetarians, there’s always the salmon or tofu teriyaki bowls, with an additional serving of vegetables. Teriyaki Madness even does yakisoba, where they cook together noodles, veggies, and your choice of protein.
