The fast food world is no stranger to food mashups, and the one we are about to introduce to you is one of our all-time favorites. Take a grilled cheese and a classic hamburger. They’re both amazing on their own, but combined? You get the Five Guys Patty Melt. If you’re wondering why you’ve never seen it at your local Five Guys, it’s because the Patty Melt was created by some ingenious burger fiend, and word spread about its deliciousness, so it was added to the Five Guys secret menu. The rest is history.
How To Order the Five Guys Patty Melt
If you ask the Five Guys worker to make you a Patty Melt, chances are you’ll get a weird look. Not all employees will know about what’s on the secret menu, and if they do, that doesn’t guarantee they will know how to prepare it. The easiest way to guarantee you get to experience the Patty Melt in all its glory is to ask for a grilled cheese with a burger patty or two in the middle of it. Then, ask for your favorite toppings. Five Guys doesn’t charge extra for toppings, so load them up if you want a filling, flavorful melt.
Does the Patty Melt sound familiar? You may have heard of another Five Guys secret menu item called the Double Grilled Cheese Burger. The concepts of both burgers are similar, but the Double Grilled Cheese Burger is like the Patty Melt on steroids. It consists of two burgers and two grilled cheese sandwiches smashed together to create a deliciously giant calorie monster.
How much does the Patty Melt cost?
Typically, the Patty Melt costs around $5.29. This is factoring what is would cost for the grilled cheese ($3.49) and the hamburger patty ($1.80). If you ask for two patties, be prepared to pay extra.

The best darn sandwich I put in my mouth, period!!!
Yes, I have tried the Patty Melt and ordered it twice this year. I get grilled cheese, 1 burger, & grilled onions and it is perfect just like the photo above. I first had a Patty Melt while working in Australia for a couple of weeks over 20 years ago and Australia loves Patty Melts.
