Dairy Queen has an impressive menu, full of all kinds of treats and drink specialties, like freezes, blizzards, ice cream, chillers, and frozen coffee drinks. DQ Oreo Blizzards have been a favorite of mine since I was a kid, and now my kids love them too. But sometimes it’s easier to prepare them at home, and they’re so simple that anyone can do it with just a couple of ingredients and a few minutes of time.
One thing to keep in mind is that the better quality of ice cream you use, the better your Blizzard will taste. A bit of vanilla extract adds to the flavor, and the Oreos perfect the recipe. We recommend using 6 to 8 Oreos to prepare 4 small servings, and for a fancy garnish, you can top your drink with whipped cream and an extra Oreo.
Simply begin with slightly thawed vanilla ice cream, and place it in a heavy-duty blender with the vanilla extract and Oreos. Pulse it for a few seconds, scraping the ice cream from the sides as needed. Once it’s a creamy consistency, well-blended with the Oros, you’ll know it’s ready to serve. Pour it in 2 to 4 glasses, and enjoy.
