Product Name: Chick-Fil-A Cobb Salad Review
Product Description: The beauty of Chick-fil-A’s Cobb Salad is that it can be customized. You may want to enjoy the vegetarian option by omitting the hot crispy nugget slices and bacon. It would still be a filling and flavorful salad served with fresh mixed greens, roasted corn kernels, shredded Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese, diced hard-boiled eggs, and cherry tomatoes.

Chick-Fil-A is famous for its crispy chicken sandwich, crispy chicken nuggets, and fried-to-perfection waffle fries. Their batter flavor is unique, their chicken is consistently tender, and their commitment to their customers’ experience can hardly be topped. If you have ever visited one of their drive-through locations in the middle of rush hour, you know that their service is fast and accurate, and their food is always delivered with a smile.
In rising to the challenge of offering healthier fast food meal options, Chick-fil-A developed several Premium Salads that are prepared fresh throughout each day (except for Sundays!) to ensure they uphold their standards of quality, taste, flavor, and customization options.
Though each salad has its distinct flavor personality, the cobb salad is their customers’ top salad choice year after year. The flavor combinations are fun to play with, but the consistent freshness of such a wide variety of ingredients makes this salad stand out to me. The lettuce is as crisp as any salad you may find at a casual dining restaurant, but with the convenience of picking it up at a drive-through.
Which had me feeling kinda like…
History/Inspiration
David Farmer, Vice President of Product Strategy & Development with Chick-fil-A explains that the restaurant wanted to offer a healthy fast food option, without sacrificing flavor or quality. The traditional cobb salad is already packed with texture and a variety of flavors, so what could make it taste even better? Serving it with Chick-fil-A’s famous hot crispy chicken nuggets, of course.
To give the salad even more unique complementary flavors, they also offer a side of their creamy Avocado Lime Ranch dressing and a side of Charred Tomato and Crispy Red Bell Peppers.
One of the other challenges Chick-fil-A encountered in creating salads was how to maintain their standard of quality and freshness while serving such a large volume of customers each day. So they chose to partner with farms across the United States that uphold rigid safety and quality standards, and their produce is delivered to the restaurants up to six days per week. The lettuce and ingredients are prepared freshly each day, making the cobb salad a healthy delicious meal option.

While their Avocado Lime Ranch dressing is a customer favorite, others may prefer a Light Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing, a Fat-Free Honey Mustard Dressing, or a Light Italian Dressing. I prefer it without dressing, making it an even healthier choice.
Chick-Fil-A Cobb Salad Review
Taste and Texture [5/5]
When you first open the Cobb Salad, it looks like a beautiful mix of colors: red cherry tomatoes, crispy hot nugget slices (or grilled chicken slices), roasted corn kernels, crumbled bacon, shredded Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese, and diced hard-boiled egg, all on a bed of freshly cut green romaine lettuce. Once it is mixed together, each bite is an exciting flavor combination.
The crumbled bacon and chicken nugget slices offer a strong crunch that I like, and because the lettuce is cut fresh daily, it maintains its shape and crispness without being soggy or saggy. Chick-fil-A’s famous nuggets on top of cold vegetables give the satisfaction of eating both a hot meal and a healthy salad. The milder flavor of hard-boiled eggs is contrasted by sprinkling some Charred Tomato and Crispy Red Bell Peppers over them. With the roasted corn kernels in the mix, this salad has a flavorful southern spice to it (without being spicy).
Are they Healthy? [4/5]
Chick-fil-A prides itself on offering some of the healthiest menu options available in the fast-food industry. In their famous commitment to serving chicken that has never received a single antibiotic. They have earned a “B” on the Chain Reaction II Survey and Scorecard (page 32) giving them one of the top five spots as a responsible fast food restaurant chain.
Also, from a nutritional standpoint, it may not be the healthiest salad in the world, but it is in the top healthiest salads available from a fast-food restaurant. Eating a salad with two servings of vegetables, greens, and plenty of protein is still more nutritious than a lot of other options out there.
Chick-fil-A’s Cobb Salad can be easily modified to fit both Keto and Paleo diets, with 27 grams of fat, 40 grams of protein, and 28 grams of carbs. It has 510 calories with chicken, but the Avocado Lime dressing adds another 310 calories, so opting out of the dressing or drizzling half of the package will help reduce your caloric intake.
Are they Worth it? [5/5]
I am a big fan of this salad because of its portion size, its nutritional value, its flavor variations, the hot crispy chicken, and the convenience of being able to purchase and eat it when I am on the go. It is priced at $8.99 with chicken but can vary in price by a dollar or two by adding or omitting ingredients.
Final Verdict
Chick-Fil-A’s hot crispy nuggets are what make this salad a favorite for me. Their simple signature batter and quality chicken adds value and tenderness to any meal. I order a medium Waffle Fry with my salad in the name of balance, but it can be eaten on its own and it will hold you over until your next meal. It is an excellent choice for eating healthy while on the run. It is one of my favorite fast food options.

Expect only 1⁄4 teaspoon of bacon in the Cobb salad. I won’t buy it again.
