Have you ever eaten a Pizza Hut pizza and wished you could duplicate the sauce for making your own pizza or dipping breadsticks into? I’ve been guilty of trying to make pizza sauce with tomato sauce or tomato paste, but something was always missing. Now with this Pizza Hut Sauce recipe, I can create a delicious, authentic, and healthy version of Pizza Hut’s Pizza sauce from home.
This recipe calls for a large can of tomato sauce as the base, but you can also use tomato paste for a thicker sauce. If you like a chunky tomato sauce, you can also include a small can of diced tomatoes, and pulse them in a blender for a few seconds (not too much, or else it becomes thinner like regular tomato sauce). This is just a little trick I’ve learned in experimenting with Pizza Hut sauce recipes.
This recipe calls for a small amount of herbs, so the sauce is herby but not overwhelming. If you like a more herby sauce, feel free to double the amount the recipe calls for. My kids tend to like a bit more garlic powder, so we use a little extra. Be sure to simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes so all of the flavors marinate well together.

- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp dried basil leaves

Notes
- This sauce can be stored in an air-tight container or jar in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.
- If you don't have tomato sauce, you can also use tomato paste.
- If you really like herbs, you can add a bit extra than the recipe calls for.
